Wywiad z Team -=USA=-
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 1. For our readers who are new to the Red Orchestra scene, could you please give us your name and share a little something about yourself (age, school, favorite food, pet peeves, plans for world domination, etc).
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos My name is Eric and I am 19, very soon to be 20. I go to the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida studying political science. I plan on conquering the world just as soon as I am of legal drinking age
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong My name is luke, I am 14 (probably making me the youngest player to compete in the cup). I am an avid martial artist, and dont feel the need to dominate the world… Yet.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom My name is Todd and I will be turning 23 the first week of December. I go by the nickname of SonicBoom and I’m the commander of the INForcers North American division. I also go to the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and I’m studying computer engineering. In case you are wondering, yes I know ProfessorKayos in person, though only after he joined our clan. I’m a drummer, I love cheese pizza, one of my favorite movies was The Matrix, I hate when people drive slower than the speed limit, and I’m putting off plans to conquer the world just like I put off my homework.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ My real name is Dan Putz (no, really…), am 20 years young, and an Electronic Journalism student at a Pennsylvania state school near Harrisburg (basically in the middle of the state). I’ll leave world domination to Stewie Griffin…he’s got the huevos.
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Name: Scott Age: 27 soon to be 28 School: Graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst Favorite food: Corned Beef and Cabbage Pet peeves: shitty drivers Plans for World Domination: None, just let me die in peace
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 2. Can you tell us a little about your gaming background? What were your favorite games when you were growing up?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Was really big on consoles in my younger days, mainly N64. Started gaming on PC with CS and DoD, then some Battlefield games and finally RO a couple years ago.
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong Well the game I look back on with the most frequency when I think of my favorite video games would have to be the origonal raymond game. Quake 3 was where I really got into multiplayer alot (still play it from time to time).
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom I originally started gaming on consoles, and the consoles I’ve owned are Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, and lastly XBox. I liked playing sports games, racing games, Sonic the Hedgehog and various action games, and some shooters on the DC and XBox . Oddly, one of my favorite games was Smash Brothers for the N64. Nearly every time I went to my friend’s house I challenged him on it. One of the first games I ever played on a computer was SimCity 2000, and I also recall playing Doom and Heretic. I played C&C Red Alert and some fighter plane sims for a while. Then I really started getting into first person shooters and multiplayer when my cousin introduced me to the original UT. Soon after I discovered the mod INFiltration, which dominated my gaming life the next several years. As it started to die, I picked up America’s Army for a while, but eventually settled on RO.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ I was pretty much a console gamer in my younger years starting with a neighbors Atari, then on to NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64 and then the Game Cube… With that last one I exited the console realm, as I found it too restrictive. Soon I discovered the Unreal Tournament series and bought UT2k4 on a whim giving it a try. I found Red Orchestra when one of my Google searches for something completely unrelated highlighted “KrasnyiOktyabr”…and I got to thinking, WTH is that??? I clicked through and found that is was a total modification of UT2k4…and I downloaded it and gave it a shot. And not unlike most people who first try RO, I sucked; I sucked so bad, I managed to get myself banned from the CiA/CoR server after about an hour. I joined the forums to get the banned removed and decided that these weren’t a bad bunch of dudes. And if you’re blind, I’ve been carrying a CoR tag since RO3.1. :-) Since then I haven’t looked back…improving as much as possible. I have to say that 3 things have been most important in my RO career are 1) being accepted into CoR, 2) being accepted as an Official Beta Tester for Tripwire Interactive, and 3) being considered for Team [f]us[/f] -=USA=-.
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Did the whole console thing when I was young, atari, Nintendo, etc then on to computer games, wow just wow. Played all the world war 2 games, like Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Day of Defeat since beta, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and of course RO. I started playing RO when it was a mod and the version was 2.0. Been playing it religiously for 2 and 1/2 years or somethin now. I seem to love the racing games and ww2 FPS games and not really anything else.
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 3. How much Red Orchestra do you play each week? What’s your favorite map and favorite weapon?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Nowhere near as much as I used to lol. Now, I play 2-3 times per week probably….down from 5-6. Favorite map is Kaukasus just cuz there are very few SMGs and I prefer the SVT/G43 or a plain bolt.
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong around than 5 to 7 hours a week, this can vary widely though as it really depends on how busy I am with RL and what have you! My favorite map… hmmm well in the mod it would probably have to be Maikop 1942. But in Ostfront I would probably choose Stalingrad or Baksan Valley (I really love some of the rifle battles that can occur on this map, plus the brutal SMG fighting as well). K98 sniper rifle.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom I probably play 1-3 hours most nights of the week. My favorite map in the mod was probably Koitos, and in Ostfront my top three are probably Odessa, Krasnyi, and Kaukasus. Right now I prefer having a semi-auto, bolt, or sniper rifle. Among the semi-autos and bolts, I like the SVT and the Mosin best.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ I drown myself in RO, probably upwards of 10-20 hours a week. I’ll have to go with Mr.Kong in that my favorite map ever would be Maikop1942 for the MOD and Danzig for Ostfront.
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister I play too much, you could say I’m a student of the game. I think I play something like 5-7 days a week. My favorite map maikop. Most new players won’t know it because it was a custom mod map made by Greenhell. He’s going to redo at somepoint which is my understanding, but I really hope he does. Favorite weapons are, ALL mg’s and bolts.
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 4. Are there any plans for the next Nations Cup?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Yeah, retirement! Just for me at least, this was my 2nd time playing (first as captain) and I think thats enough. Time to pass the torch.
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong Well we have to defend the title dont we? I know I will certainly re-up for the team as it was a blast (when we were not worrying about rules…) and hell team USA will greatly benefit from my playing.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom Personally, I’m undecided regarding next year.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ HOLD OUR TITLE!!!
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister I’m totally there if needed.
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 5. What was your inspiration for -=USA=- ?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos The tag or the team? lol…The tag came from the first Team USA, I think we decided on it cuz the bars and the stripes on the American flag or something. Plus it looked cool. The team was inspired by the first NC…tried to stick to the same basic blueprint and I guess it turned out ok.
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong To join? For the team? Well to join it was mainly because several of my other clan mates were going to be in the team and I thought it would be fun to in a team with a lot of the same people who I have been pubbing and matching against for longer than I care to remember (lol). The inspiration for the team was of course to win and defend the title!
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom The first year I knew that there was a plethora of very talented players in the American community. I wanted to represent my country and see how well our best stacked up against what the other countries had to offer. In addition I wanted to see what it was like to play alongside these other elite players as a team, rather than just against them like in clan matches. This year ProfessorKayos kind of dragged me into it but I’m glad I participated. Afterall, I did want to defend our title. As for the tag, it was originally my idea. It reminded me of an eagle’s wings and I also thought it looked cool. Although I can see how it could be construed as stripes like on our flag.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ To represent the best that the United States has to offer.
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Its a all about pride in the country that I was born, live, and that has given me so much. I LOVE the USA and am damn proud to represent the USA
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 6. “The Nations Cup 2006 is finally over.
Tonights final – Team USA against Team Germany ended with a deserved 6:2 win for USA, leaving them with the second title for the Nations Cup.” – This is “the end” of story. Pls tell me about “the begining”
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Umm…Pyros and I were sorta default captains since we volunteered and everybody was fine with that. Nobody else came forward really. So we picked a few guys who played in the first Nations Cup then held some tryouts to find the rest. Picked some maps, practiced them, played the matches…not much to the story really. No sex, drugs, or rock and roll this year
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong The begining for me was a couple of tryouts that I went to with a slew of other players. I played in two I believe, a few days later the finale roster was anounced and I was on it.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom he first year I was one of the team captains. Valac, Manstein and I put the team together after seeing who was interested and holding some tryouts, and it was tough to do so. A lot of people showed interest and talent was abundant to say the least. There was also a lot of energy. Practices, scrims, our energy and our drive to win carried us through to our final victory for the championship. The end of last year’s cup kind of served as the beginning for this one. Things progressed just as ProfessorKayos described. Even though things were a little more low-key this year, our desire to defend our title brought us together, and the rest is history.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ Hectic…low turnout and THE MOST INTENSE bracket that any NC team had to face: bar none. France, Finland, Germany (twice!)…no one had to face all three of these intimidating opponents.
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister I was hoping to get on the team and showed up to tryouts late due to work. I found that I made the team and have loved every minute there after. Too cool.
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 7. Do you vote for Bush ?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos No, actually…I wasn’t old enough to vote at the time. Though I would choose him over Gore or Kerry…its a lesser of 2 evils thing, not that we actually like the guy
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong Well I am not old enough, but if I could I dont think I would.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom No. I strongly disagree with his neoconservative approach to international relations. IMO he’s got most things backwards, and has caused a lot of damage. Plus I don’t like some of his conservative ideals.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ No…the state of Maryland managed to lose my voter registration paperwork somewhere, so I voted for nobody…though none of the candidates enticed me much anyway…
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Like ProfessorKayos says, lesser of 2 evils. I couldn’t stand Gore or Kerry, and yes I did vote. But believe me when I say this, I don’t wanna police the world, and I wish we could all get along.
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 8. Coca-Cola or Pepsi?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Pepsi
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong Neither, they both taste like ass.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom Coke.
[f]us[/f] PUTZ Diet Coke
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Um, Bass Ale or Guiness, but to answer that question Pepsi
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 9. Favorite porn-star ?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Hmmm…there are so many Probably Teagan or Jenna Haze…I dunno
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong hahahaha you probably think I am too young to have one right? Well go on, you can think that. ;)
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom What’s this porn you speak of? I only know about pr0n. ;)
[f]us[/f] PUTZ none rly
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister My Girlfriend ke ke
[f]pl[/f] Zdzira 10. Do you have some tip’s for newbie ?
[f]us[/f] ProfessorKayos Play with the good people and get your ass kicked, you’re better off for it
[f]us[/f] Mr.Kong PLAY PLAY PLAY! When I first started playing, I played this game for something like 3 hours a day to get really good. This still took a while, as it was not till the release of Ostfront that I really became a stud at this game.
[f]us[/f] SonicBoom Play a lot. Watch and learn from better players. Examine your own play and try to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Don’t forget about the thinking aspect of this game. It’s not all about reflexes and accuracy, though they do help. The trick is to find ways to give yourself an advantage over your enemy
[f]us[/f] PUTZ Stick with it…and don’t pester people with questions like “How do I drop my rifle and pick up another one?” All that stuff is in the manual…read it before doing anything! This game is extremely different from anything out there..
[f]us[/f] Jägermeister Stick with it, I’m still learning, it can be such a frustrating game but such a rewarding game at the same time.
[f]pl[/f] enclave.Zdzira Thx to ALL Team [f]us[/f] -=USA=- members !! The winners of 2nd Nations Cup! Cu all on the battlefield ;-)
